One of my new year’s resolutions was to blog more. And seeing as we are already a week and a half into 2011 and this is my first post of the year, you might say I’ve failed. But I prefer the term “late-starter”. Life frequently seems to get away from me and my to do list seems to keep getting longer and longer. It perhaps even puts Santa’s naughty or nice list to shame. Sorry for the Christmas reference in January but I’ve still got Rudolph and Candy Canes on my brain. I blame it on consuming tooooooo much sugar over Christmas.
To start 2011 off right, there will be a new and regular segment on my blog entitled Happy Things. A semimonthly post on things that I love. Things I adore. Things that make me happy.
*First up, Bouchon’s blueberry muffins. In fact, pretty much anything from Bouchon. This adorable bakery reminds me of Paris. From the sweet smells to the picture perfect pastries, I am obsessed with this place. While up in Napa two weeks ago (blog coming soon), we frequented this bakery numerous times. And now, even though we are back home and more than 95 miles away, I find myself trying to find a valid reason to drive back up North for more.
*I am a total sucker for a good board game. Taboo, Scattegories and Uno Attack are all regulars of ours, but this holiday season was all about Funglish. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, it’s a blast. Hours upon hours were spent playing this game with our families over Christmas. The result? Some great memories and even funnier pictures (We get really into our game playing).
*We did it. After watching obsessively for 17 seasons and dreaming of one day being a part of it, we finally applied. Amazing Race is without a doubt our favorite reality show. In fact, it’s our favorite show period. We’ve always wanted to apply but things kept coming up that changed our minds. For me, 2011 is about taking risks and going after what I want in life. So we did. We filled out all the forms and filmed our application video. It was packed up and mailed off. I was dreading the process of filling out endless amounts of questions and trying to jam everything about what makes us us into 3 minutes of video but it was a lot of fun. We laughed and enjoyed it as you can see from a few of the video screen shots below. We did all that we could and now we will wait and see what happens. In the meantime, I will be crossing my fingers and thinking happy thoughts!
Happy Monday!
