  • Why, hello you!

I’m Kim. I’m a wedding photographer based in Northern California. Take a peek around to learn a little bit more about me and what I love to do. A Trip to Orange County: The Jasmine Star Workshop

I sat on my bed and stared at the empty suitcase.  I had been putting off packing all weekend but was running out of time.  Truth be told, I hate packing.  Totally despise it.  Maybe it’s because we’ve moved so many times or perhaps I’m just lazy but either way, I avoid it until it becomes necessary.  And it had reached that point.  I was either going to LA with an empty suitcase and a bag of camera gear or I was just going to have to suck it up and do it.  Or, maybe ( just maybe) I could convince Matt to take one for the team and do it for me.

Thirty minutes (plus a scowl or two from my hubby) later, I had finally packed my bags and we were en route to the airport.  Once we arrived, Matt pulled the car over to the curb.   We exchanged big hugs, a kiss or two and with a huge smile he said, “Have the best time.”  He squeezed my hand and looked into my eyes.  He knew.  After nearly a decade together, we are that couple who finish each other’s sentences, can tell the other’s thoughts and know what the other is feeling with a simple look.  He could read my thoughts and see the excitement all over my face.  I was nervous, thrilled and feeling extremely blessed that I was attending the Jasmine Star workshop.  I had been looking forward to it from the day that I found out I was lucky enough to get one of the 20 seats.  And that day had finally come.

I look up to Jasmine like crazy.  I have for a long time.  She really is one of the most inspiring and kind people in the world of photography.  And being able to get advice and an opportunity to watch her work was truly wonderful.  What made this experience so great?  3 things.

1.  Lots of learning.  Listening and soaking in some great information.  The first part of the day was spent with Jasmine talking about branding and the business side of photography.  She offered such great advice and it’s gotten me even more excited for the next few steps for my business.

2. The shoot.  After a morning of learning, chatting and questions, we had the opportunity for a photo shoot with an adorable couple, Stacy and Joe Kokes. They are from Arizona and are also photographers (and made great models for all 21 of us to photograph).  Here are some of my favorites.

3.  New friends.  Being able to spend time with such great people. It was such a fun group and I can’t wait to see where these coming years will take everyone. It was truly a pleasure meeting all of you and looking forward to reuniting at some point.  Perhaps WPPI next year? Yes, please!  Here’s a picture of a few new friends thanks to Charlie.

And of course, Jasmine!  Thank you for everything!  xoxo
